Job summary

This is a post in the IM&T Department providing software services for the 999 service line.

The post holder will be responsible for developing Trust IM&T 999 systems to ensure they provide improved effectiveness and functionality and can provide safe support for patient care and management of Trust services. This includes responsibility for the design, development, testing, and implementation of systems, managing others (inc. 3rd. party suppliers) in the execution of their responsibilities.

Provide efficient and effective support of Information Technology and Computerised systems and services within multiple Clinical Hubs.Be responsible for the efficient and effective deployment and use of IM&T systems and services within the Clinical Hubs and front line Operations across all service lines.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide technical and operational advice and perspective to internal business customers.
  • Test software enhancements to designated systems/modules, develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, ensuring appropriate change controls are in place and adhered to.
  • In accordance with change control procedures, assist the Business Systems Manager in evaluating the need for technical changes to the operation of designated systems/modules software and execute approved changes.
  • Provide system specialist support to the wider IM&T directorate and other Trust directorates as required.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, providing appropriate solutions and ensuring system continuity wherever applicable.
  • Ensure all identified system faults are reported in a timely efficient manner to system supplier.
  • Ensure all development work is carried out to agreed high levels of quality and in accordance with the Change Management Process.
  • Undertake other such duties as may be required from time to time which fall within the scope of the post.
  • Provide out-of-hours on call cover for the Trust's business critical systems and during key transitions as part of a rota with others. Be a key-holder and work unsupervised outside of normal business hours.
  • Provide reports, as required, to the Business Systems Manager, Head of Operation for Clinical Hubs and Director of Information Management, Technology and Communications, covering hardware and software performance and supplier integrity and probity.

  • Excellent understanding of systems development within a critical environment using formal methodologies and processes.
