Job summary

The Volunteering & Community Services Officer is a key role in the delivery of effective volunteering across the Trust. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Volunteering & Community Services it has operational responsibility for the safe and effective day to day management of all Volunteering & Community Services schemes within its geographical area of responsibility.

The post holder supports the development and evaluation of new Volunteering & Community Services roles and initiatives in support of the Volunteering & Community Services plan / strategy. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all volunteering initiatives within their geographical area are compliant with the Trust's Volunteering Policy and relevant governance structures and are delivered in support of the overarching Trust Strategy.

The role supports the Deputy / Head of Volunteering & Community Services in the effective provision of volunteers, collaboration agreements and community initiatives in support of the departmental objectives and by managing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The post holder has a key role in managing and leading volunteers, maintaining a highly visible and pro-active presence across the geographical area.

Main duties of the job

Management responsibilities

  • Line Manager for volunteers and Assistant Community Responder Officer(s) within their designated county. Ensuring that all execute their duties in accordance with the appropriate Trust policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Holds a key role in setting the tone for volunteering within the county ensuring that all volunteers understand their roles and responsibilities and are supported to achieve their objectives.
  • Ensure new volunteers and staff receive an induction and that they are aware of all necessary procedures, policies and information necessary to carry out their role effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • Works in partnership with the HR Business Partner to support staff and volunteers and lead by example, promoting the Trust's values to ensure the smooth running of the department and expansion of volunteer numbers and opportunities.

  • Qualified HCPC registered Paramedic or NMC registered Nurse
  • Educated to Degree level or demonstrate a significant equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience.
  • Must hold a full driving licence which includes C1.
  • Must have undertaken an appropriate blue light driving course.
  • Award in Education Certificate, higher teaching qualification or willing to work towards

Desirable

  • Supervisory or Management Qualification.
  • Internal Quality Assurer qualification
  • Experience as a trainer / assessor

Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)

  • Considerable operational ambulance experience.
