Job summary
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is looking for substantive doctors to provide consultant level medical support to the Trust's 999 Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and front-line crews.
You will provide senior medical advice and support to EOC clinicians, front-line staff and senior managers either in person or remotely. Undertaking telephone consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carers. You will also support in undertaking clinical audits, case reviews and learning from death reviews, supporting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Successful applicants will possess a high level of clinical knowledge relating to urgent and acute care with demonstratable experience of working as a senior clinician leading a team. You will have a license to practice in good standing with the General Medical Council of the UK and be registered on either the GP or specialist register.
Main duties of the job
To be a senior clinical role model within the EOCo Provide senior medical advice and support to EOC clinicians and front-line staff either in person or remotelyo Provide senior medical advice and decision-making support to SWAFST senior managerso To support the training and development of Paramedics, Specialist Paramedics, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses and Doctors working in the EOC or triage environmentso Undertake telephone consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carerso Make appropriate use of remote consulting technology, clinical information systems and applicable guidance to support risk-informed clinical decision makingo To support a culture of continuous learning and developmento Review, triage and clinically re-prioritise 999 callso Undertake clinical audits and case reviewso Participate in learning from deaths reviewso To contribute to and on occasions lead EOC Doctor meetings and trainingsessions
