Job summary
The post holder will support the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) Officers and Managers in ensuring that South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) have in place emergency preparedness arrangements as required for a Category 1 responder in line with the Trusts duties outlined within the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA), the NHS England Core Standards for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR), Health and Social Care Act and other legislative requirements.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting with the development of internal emergency planning arrangements, including the training, exercising, and testing of these arrangements.
The post holder will assist in representing SWASFT at multi-agency and Local Resilience Forum, Local Health Resilience Partnership meetings and other working groups.
A significant responsibility to the role will be to provide support and assist the EPRR Officers and Managers with various EPRR projects requiring both internal and external stakeholder involvement to enhance the Trusts response arrangements to incidents, multi-agency operations and other events.
The post holder will also provide substantial support to SWASFT Commanders and staff at significant and or large-scale incidents (including major incidents) via the on call Loggist rota or through core duties as part of the EPRR Team.
Main duties of the job
- As tasked by the EPRR Officers / Managers, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of business continuity and emergency preparedness guidance and legislation.
- Assist and participate in the development of plans, policy and procedures as tasked by the EPRR Officers / Managers.
- Assist and participate in the development and testing of robust emergency arrangements involving SWASFT, wider NHS organisations and other partner agencies.
- Act autonomously on a number of SWASFT Emergency plans, Operational Orders and briefing notes within area, for events such as mass public gatherings, stadia events and ad hoc events.
- Assist on the production and maintenance of SWASFT risk assessments for emergency preparedness and contingency planning issues in area or where Trust wide activity is required.
- Through audit and review, ensure that all internal emergency arrangements including externally owned plans that involve SWASFT are current and reflect any emerging hazards or threats.
- Support the EPRR Officer for Interoperable Capabilities with the annual NHS England CBRNe audits for South West Acute Hospitals.
- Work with the wider EPRR Team in the design and delivery of multi-agency exercises, as required.
- A significant responsibility of the role will be the creation, design, and delivery of training packages to staff and manager groups across the Trust and external partners, E.g. Loggist Training, Triage training.
