Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Operations Directorate as EPRR SORT Instructor on a 6 month secondment basis. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual who would excel in this training based role. The ideal candidate will be Special Operations Response Team (SORT) or Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) Operative trained, will thrive working in pressurised situations with minimal supervision, and will be innovative and intuitive with the ability to work flexibly whilst meeting deadlines and ensuring that all training is delivered with full compliance to the relevant standards.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for delivery of SORT training across the South West region, maintaining evidence based training records for all SORT staff
  • Support with delivery of joint HART/SORT training in conjunction with HART MTA & PRPS instructors
  • Help design and implement systems that adequately and consistently assesses the understanding and competency of HART/SORT staff.
  • Utilise a range of different types of assessment and feedback methodologies
  • Select and develop activities, resources and materials which engage HART/SORT staff whilst aligning to NARU training standards
  • Facilitate and support initial and ongoing Physical Competency Assessments to ensure SORT & HART staff meet minimum physical standards set by NARU
  • Appropriately record and report all PCA governance and make referrals where appropriate in line with SWAST PCA SOP
  • Maintain up to date departmentally generated information and training records
  • Ensure the competence and preparedness of SORT staff to enable them to effectively respond and operate within warm zones at MTA & CBRN incidents
  • Assist in carrying out development projects relating to EPRR operations and training as required
  • Interpret and implement resilience policies and guidelines for SORT and operational area with discretion to work within broad service and organisation policies
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining evidence based compliance to the National Interoperable Capability contract standards and supporting with regulatory inspections as directed

  • HCPC registered Paramedic with 2 years operational experience
  • Full UK driving licence with up to a maximum of 6 points
