Job summary

To help us do this, we are looking for an experienced part time Environment and Sustainability Manager to support our existing full time Environment and Sustainability Manager.

You will help lead and coordinate a Trust-wide approach to sustainability across all areas such as carbon reduction, pollution, energy, fuel, travel and transport, and use of resources.

You will also help lead on the delivery of the Trust's Climate Change Adaptation Plan and work Trust-wide with other teams, directorates and external organisations to ensure compliance with all environmental legislation, codes of practice and guidance.

Main duties of the job

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has a mixed estate portfolio including HQ buildings, ambulance stations, fleet workshops, training facilities and much, much more. We have an ambition to become a Net Zero operation by 2040, this role will help play a fundamental role in supporting this Net Zero delivery.

Providing expert specialist and professional advice and promoting a Trust-wide Sustainable Environment culture, you will identify and deliver improvements in the Trust's energy and environmental performance / carbon footprint.

The post is largely home / office based but will require occasional site visits which will include walking around buildings, for instance related to environmental audits, environmental projects etc.

The role can be based at either Exter HQ or our Bristol Office.

The successful candidate will ideally have a proven track record within a similar Environment and Sustainability focused role working with internal and external stakeholders including contractors. They will be able to work as part of a wider team, be a good communicator and possess strong IT and prioritisation skills.

  • Degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject with post graduate courses or experience to Post graduate or equivalent level
  • Appropriate current or recent post qualification professional experience, minimum of three years in senior positions in a relevant role
  • Able to provide evidence of Continuous Professional Development

Desirable

  • MSc or other post graduate qualification in a relevant environmental subject, eg Sustainability, Environmental Management or Environmental Science
  • Accredited to a relevant professional body, Formal project management training and qualification
