Job summary
Do you want to play an essential part in ensuring that the details of emergency 999 calls are passed swiftly and effectively from 999 call handler to Paramedic?
This exciting role is for those people who have a thirst for service management whilst keen on having a real impact on how the UK manages its emergency communications services. As a Prince2 or Service management professional, you will have the skills we need to push this programme forward and make a real difference to our emergency services colleagues and the patients they serve. No two days are the same for this role; it demands interaction with UK ambulance Trusts and suppliers in progressing two key programmes; the upgrade to the communications systems in ambulance control rooms and the end user equipment in the ambulance and used by the emergency crews.
Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for a Project Manager (Service) to join our team.
This role will work on delivery of projects within the ARP Service Programme, that focuses on improving service delivery to ambulance Trusts. Projects within the programme include the introduction of a new Service Management Partner,Service Desk and associated ITIL processes, the transition of support for radio terminals to new suppliers and the management of release activities across multiple suppliers and ARP services.
The successful candidate will need to have a thorough understanding and experience of project management, ideally in an IT service management capacity as well as having experience of managing project delivery via multiple suppliers.
The post is home based, with the expectation for national travel to support the needs of the service. With offices in Yorkshire and Bristol, there are also plenty of opportunities to interact with the 80+ employees who work for the Ambulance Radio Programme.

The Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) is an enduring organisation directly appointed by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to provide and upgrade the emergency communications processes for UK ambulance services. No two days are the same working for ARP; it demands interaction with UK ambulance Trusts and suppliers in progressing its key programmes including the upgrade to the communications systems in ambulance control rooms and upgrading the equipment both in the ambulance and used by the emergency crew. In time, these important upgrades will link into the dedicated Emergency Services Network - a programme being implemented by the Home Office - so there is much scope for interaction with public sector partners and for the successful candidate to enjoy working across the entire breadth of this essential team.
