To look after all of our buildings, we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Estates Officer to join our Estates Team.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to support the provision of a fit for purpose, responsive, safe and cost-effective estates service to South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
Estates Officers have day to day responsibility for the management of operational aspects of Trust buildings, its partnership organisations and internal customers ensuring they are progressive, responsive to internal and external demand, are patient focused, safe, efficient, and effective.
Estates Officers will contribute to the planning and delegation of minor estates schemes/projects, including liaison with operational teams and professions such as contractors, suppliers, planning officers and specialist consultants.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record within a similar role in Facilities Management or Building Services. Able to work under their own steam and as part of a wider team, they will have a sound knowledge of contractor management, health and safety and project management are essential. In addition, they will be be a confident and empathetic communicator with strong attention to detail, good judgement, a passion for delivery across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment whilst having the ability to build productive relationships.

Essential
- HNC/D minimum level qualification in construction or building services
- Specialist construction or building services knowledge including legislation to degree level or equivalent experience
- Able to meet the requirements of the Knowledge and Skills Framework for the role
Desirable
- Membership of an appropriate professional body
- Good CPD evidence
- Post Graduate degree in relevant specialism
Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)

- Significant relevant experience with broad survey and/or maintenance expertise
- Sound understanding of and experience in construction, building services and specialist works
- Experience of design, contracts, tender procedures and project management
- Experience in setting up and operating planned and reactive maintenance systems
- General health and safety experience and knowledge including Control of Legionella and Management of Asbestos
- Good working knowledge of the CDM Regulations
