Job summary

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is looking for additional doctors to work in as part of the multidisciplinary team (HCAs, Nurses, Paramedics, Non-Medical Prescribers) at our Tiverton Urgent Treatment Centre. The UTC sees a variety of injuries and illnesses, offering x-ray and point of care testing. We aim to provide care closer to home and relieve pressure on the urgent and emergency care system.

Main duties of the job

  • Face to face consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carers
  • Providing risk-based patient focused care
  • Working as part of our clinical team to provide primary care support
  • Undertake appropriate prescribing
  • Use point of care diagnostics to support decision making
  • Onward referral of patients as appropriate
  • Contribute to a positive team ethos

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council on the General Practitioner list or Specialist list (Emergency Medicine)
  • Experience of primary healthcare in the diagnostic light setting
  • Skilled at managing clinical risk
  • Demonstrate clear ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • Clinical experience of urgent & emergency care

Desirable

  • Experience of emergency medicine or ambulatory care
  • Minor injury x-ray interpretation and fracture management
  • Fracture manipulation and reduction
  • Experience of minor surgery including wound closure and suturing
  • Advanced life support or intermediate life support
