This is an exciting opportunity for either newly or recently qualified Band 7 Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists looking for a post with potential career progression to join our team under a Preceptorship development programme.
We would also welcome applications from Band 8a Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists. Based on relevant experience, this post can be offered at a Band 8a or Band 7 Preceptorship arrangement.
We are looking for a motivated Clinical /Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to join our Community Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals who present with complex personality difficulties and are involved with the criminal justice system, supporting risk reduction, psychological wellbeing, and social integration.
You will work with individuals subject to probation supervision who present with significant personality difficulties, high levels of relational complexity and elevated risk.
The post holder will provide high-quality psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention, working collaboratively with probation services, health colleagues, and wider multi-agency partners. The role includes clinical leadership, consultation, supervision, and service development within a trauma-informed and relational framework.
Main duties of the job
During the Band 7 preceptorship period, you will:
- Undertake psychological assessments and formulation with individuals with personality difficulties and offending histories.
- Deliver structured, evidence-based psychological interventions under supervision.
- Contribute to risk assessment and management planning within a multi-agency context.
- Work collaboratively with Probation and other partner agencies.
- Develop confidence in working with complexity, boundaries, and relational risk.
- Engage in reflective practice, CPD, and service-learning opportunities.
- You will receive regular, high-quality clinical supervision and support to develop competencies across OPD core domains.
As a Band 8a Psychologist (post-preceptorship), the post holder will:
- Hold a higher level of clinical autonomy and complexity.
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.
- Offer consultation to probation staff and partner agencies.
- Contribute to service development and psychologically informed practice.
- Support supervision, teaching, or mentoring of others as appropriate.
- Represent psychology within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency forums.
