Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Technician

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and compassionate Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Technicianto join our Stroke and Neurology Rehabilitation Service.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting people with stroke and neurological conditions to maximise their independence and recovery.

The purpose of the post is to carry out skilled therapy interventions, as delegated by specialist occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff. Interventions will be delivered across a range of settings, including patients' homes, hospital wards and community environments.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the assessment and treatment of patients supported by the Stroke and Neurology Rehabilitation Service. Deliver delegated therapy and rehabilitation programmes following professional assessment and guidance. Provide interventions relating to:

  • Mobility and transfers
  • Personal care and activities of daily living
  • Upper limb rehabilitation
  • Cognitive, visual, perceptual, communication and sensory rehabilitation
Encourage and motivate patients to take an active role in their rehabilitation, promoting independence, education and self-management. Work as a lone practitioner within community and virtual settings, in line with lone working policies. Monitor patients' responses to intervention, reporting progress and any problems to the therapy team. Provide assessments, order, issue, fit and demonstrate standard equipment, ensuring patients, carers and staff can use equipment safely and correctly.Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers, adapting communication style to individual needs. Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, respecting the contributions of others and representing the therapy profession appropriately at all times. Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation in line with legal, professional and departmental requirements, using the organisation's IT systems as required. Undertake general clerical and administrative tasks as required to support service delivery

Essential

  • Good general education up to GCSE or equivalent
  • NVQ Level lll or in BTEC national diploma appropriate area or equivalent relevant qualification such as or sports science / health related degree
  • Experience of team working
  • Experience of managing an autonomous caseload
  • Experience of working in the NHS/healthcare setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a community setting, with stroke/neurology patients, from an Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy perspective.
  • Evidence of recent study, e.g., Anatomy and Physiology ITEC, Access to Therapy course etc.

Skills and Aptitude

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Good computer skills

Desirable

  • Completion of Stroke and neurology competencies
