Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapy Support Worker (Band 4) to join the Penwith Community Rehabilitation Team based at Bellair Health Centre.

We are looking for someone who ideally has experience of working in a community care setting and wishes to develop their therapy assessment, care planning and rehabilitation skills whilst being part of a dynamic, progressive Integrated team.

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance of the physiotherapists you will be responsible for triage, assessment, treatment and discharge of patients within your caseload.You will need to assist in the interpretation of information relevant to the patient's condition/progress, identify problems and patient needs, setting realistic goals.

You will need to have excellent organisational skills combined with experience of working in a care setting, preferably a therapeutic one.

We are a supportive team, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and support workers with Multi-disciplinary Team working. We offer a friendly and supportive working environment where you can develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. CPD is actively encouraged and supported through regular supervision/appraisal and training.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
  • NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience Or, Rep Level 4 Fitness Professional with modules in one of the following: falls, GP referrals, diabetes. Or, Bachelors degree in Sports Science or similar.
  • IELTS unless qualification taken in English

Desirable

  • Evidence of recent study e.g. strength and conditioning, motivational interviewing, supporting change, health coaching.

Experience

Essential

  • Working with people to facilitate learning of skills or gaining of independence
  • Extensive experience of working in a range of settings e.g. fitness or leisure centre, personal trainer, work in hospital or community setting.
  • Experience of working without direct supervision, including monitoring and reviewing the person's progress

Desirable

  • Previous experience working as a Therapy Support Worker in a similar setting with an understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team
  • Experience of working with people with a broad range of impairments/ disabilities
  • Experience of working as a lone worker

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
