We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Respiratory Fitness Instructor / Respiratory Support Worker to join our West Respiratory Service Team.

In this role, you will support patients with respiratory conditions to improve their health, independence, and quality of life through exercise and rehabilitation programmes delivered in the community, at home, or virtually. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective, and personalised support, helping patients to engage with rehabilitation and maintain an active lifestyle.

Main duties of the job

To deliver exercise and education classes to Pulmonary Rehabilitation groups in the community.

To monitor the safety of patients during exercise classes.

To undertake comprehensive patient assessments and decide on their suitability for exercise programmes, and to design and implement safe, progressive, and appropriate exercise programmes for them

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience

Essential

  • Registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3/4, and /or a Sports Science degree qualification, and /or NVQ level 4 qualification in care
  • Experience of working with long term health conditions
  • Relevant experience in an appropriate care setting
  • Experience of working in a Multidisciplinary environment

Desirable

  • Previous Respiratory experience
  • Experience of teaching
  • Experience of working using a therapeutic approach.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults.

Skills and Aptitude

  • Previous Acute / Community and caseload management experience
  • Good understanding of the importance of empathy when helping to motivate and encourage patients with impairments
