Job summary

The Adult Eating Disorder Team is a passionate and dedicated group of professionals offering high quality care to our client group in need of secondary care services across the county of Cornwall.

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to work with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality care/interventions to clients who have a Anorexia or Bulimia, under the supervision of the team psychologist.

This role is countywide and though the base is in Truro, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to travel anywhere in the county as required.Please note this vacancy may close early.

Main duties of the job

The assistant will:

  • Engage with the development and facilitate a new groupwork pathway within the service
  • Carry out assessment and direct interventions under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist
  • Support multi-disciplinary multi-agency teams and work with staff, families and carers.
  • Contribute to teaching, training and research in the department.
  • Be expected to carry a clinical caseload, under supervision.
  • Support research projects in the team
  • provide audits and other data collection and analysis where required
  • Support consultations and trainings of staff outside the service

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Psychology Degree accredited by the British Psychological Society. Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of psychology. An awareness and understanding of contemporary issues in the field of mental health.
  • Experience working with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Psychologist.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people with severe mental illness (e.g, eating disorders) and their families/carers.
