Clinical Lead - Veterans Community Mental Health

Job summary

We are seeking a passionate leader to champion the lived experience of Armed Forces veterans across Cornwall. In this county-wide role, you will provide clinical leadership and ensure services deliver high-quality, evidence-based care for veterans experiencing mental health challenges.

You will develop strong networks with health and wellbeing services, primary care, Talking Therapies, secondary and tertiary care, social care, housing, benefits agencies, voluntary organisations, and Armed Forces charities to create seamless pathways of support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting and modelling high standards of clinical care
  • Ensuring holistic assessment and treatment, including physical health needs
  • Providing expert advice on complex cases and safeguarding
  • Maintaining clinical governance standards
  • Offering training, supervision, and guidance to multidisciplinary teams

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead and support the team in assessing new patients, including risk assessment, care planning, and directing referrals to the most appropriate pathway or urgent care when needed. They will implement clinical governance and risk management, act as shift leader within CPE, and provide expert clinical leadership, supervision, and training to ensure consistent, high-quality mental health care in community settings.

Working closely with operational leads and multidisciplinary teams, the Clinical Lead will embed trauma-informed and reablement principles, manage complex assessments, and apply holistic approaches to health and social needs. Responsibilities include signposting to statutory and non-statutory services, advising on legal frameworks, and developing effective care pathways.
