Staff Nurse Developmental - Perran Ward

Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team working within our Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Longreach House. Perran Ward is an adult acute mental health unit working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health difficulties. Our emphasis is on providing a therapeutic environment, offering a holistic approach to treatment in a safe and supported space which promotes rehabilitation and recovery. We work with various professionals, carers and community staff to ensure effective delivery of care and a planned, safe and timely discharge. The successful candidate will be required to deputise for the ward manager, oversee the day to day running of the wards and be responsible for providing high quality clinical leadership to the in-patient multi-disciplinary team through supervision and direction. The appointee will be required to work rotational shifts including weekends and bank holidays as necessary, with a flexible manner to ensure a seamless whole service approach. Safe and effective delivery of care will be expected alongside compliance with The Nursing and Midwifery.
A Band 5 to Band 6 developmental role will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and may be required to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff.o To provide designated named nurse responsibility for a number of patients.o To provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff both qualified and unqualified in the absence of the Clinical Team Leader and Unit Manager during the course of the normal shift pattern, and to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available to deliver a high standard of quality care to service users.
