Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team has been growing over the past 9 years to provide a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to caring for women experiencing mental health difficulties during the perinatal period. The service receive accreditation in January 2024.

We are a county wide service with a base currently in Truro. However, due to expansion we are seeking an additional base in the east of the county. It is expected that you will work in either the west or the east of the county with a base that is near to your geographical work/home area.

The team consists of qualified and trainee nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, nursery nurses, a health visitor, psychologists, psychiatrist, administration, and peer support workers led by a dedicated service lead, supported by two deputies. The team work collaboratively to support recovery and improving bonds with baby in the crucial first 1001 days.

Main duties of the job

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the effective provision of Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Services to an identified caseload.

The core purpose of the team in which the post-holder will work, is to deliver high quality, tailored interventions in perinatal mental health and attachment-based approaches to families and infants in Cornwall. The service will have a key role in raising the profile and offering high quality standards of mental health care for expectant and postnatal care across universal and specialist services.

The post holder will assist the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of children and their families by undertaking delegated duties that support and enable family centred care. To work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that there is appropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of the child and families. The Nursery Nurse role involves visiting families in their own homes or at other premises such as children's centres across the county.
