Job summary
Exciting new opportunity for a part time specialist Occupational Therapist (0.6 WTE 22.5 hrs per week Band 6) to join our Community Stroke and Neurology Rehabilitation Service. The post will be based in North and East Cornwall between Bodmin and Liskeard. The service provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation for patients with a wide variety of acquired and progressive neurological conditions, including Stroke. This friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic team are aiming to expand, increasing therapy clinics. You will be working with experienced health care professionals as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team who will give support, joint working, regular supervision, appraisal, in-service training programme and a real commitment to professional development for you to reach your full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with stroke or neurological conditions, rehabilitation experience, excellent communication skills, team working, time management, and a flexible approach. Duties will include completing specialist neurological and functional assessments, formulating, and implementing rehabilitation programmes, supporting patient self management, education and support of carers, wider health, social care and voluntary services involved in patient care. Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard rehabilitation service to patients referred to the Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation Team
o Provide specialist assessment, effective treatment, and individualised goal setting of patients in their own home/ place of residence, to promote recovery, support independence and self managemento Provide advice and signposting to appropriate services.o To provide specialist occupational therapy advice and guidance to patients, carers and for practitioners in health and social care working with people affected by stroke and neurological presentations.o To supervise staff and students working in stroke and neurological services on occupational therapy issues.o To participate in the planning and development of occupational therapy services within the Neurology Rehabilitation team.o To actively engage in relevant education, training and support in stroke and neurological occupational rehabilitation.
