Job summary
The Community Nursing Service in the Penwith area, based at Hayle, is offering a fantastic opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Health Care Assistant to join our service. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a passion for delivering nursing care to adults in their own homes, including those who are approaching end-of-life. The role will involve carrying out planned nursing care which may include wound care, venepuncture, catheter care, pressure area care and delivering personal care to end-of-life patients.We believe in integrated ways of working to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Previous care experience is preferred however on the job training will be provided. The trust is committed to personal learning and development within Community Nursing with many opportunities available.Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently on a daily basis to and from the base, patients' homes and other venues around the geographical area. Mileage is paid at agenda for change rates and travel time between visits is incorporated into your working shift.The service covers from 8am to 10pm, 7 days per week consisting of 7.5 hour shifts.The role is developmental initially starting at band 2 to develop into band 3.
Main duties of the job
To carry out assigned tasks while regularly working without direct supervision involving direct care to patients and carers to support the registered nurse.
Working as a member of the community nursing team within a given geographical area. The District Nursing Team work on a flexible rota shift system covering the period from 0800 - 2200 hours which includes an on call system offering a high standard of service.As part of a team, provide high quality care to patients, promoting recovery in a manner that maintains safety for all. The post holder will assist in service and good practice developments.
