We are committed to developing our Clinical/Counselling/Forensic psychologists. Our posts are available at Band 7 (a developmental post) or 8A depending on experience. Relevant support and experience will be provided to ensure that successful newly qualified applicants will be able to transition into an 8A psychology post, after demonstrating significant post-qualifying experience and meeting the requirements.
Please note that, whilst working patterns will be flexible and include some remote working, there will be a requirement for the successful applicants to be physically based within team bases in Cornwall for most of the week.
If you are applying from out of county, there may be an option to work fully remotely for an initial period to allow you the time to organise relocation to this beautiful part of the world. A relocation package is available for discussion.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical/Counselling/Forensic psychologist sits alongside other practitioner psychologists, psychological therapists, assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs) and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners (MHWPs) embedded in an experienced, compassionate, trauma informed and person-centred multidisciplinary team which welcomes psychological interventions and collaborative working.
The role is a varied one providing assessment (including neurodevelopmental), formulation, individual and group interventions, and consultation using a range of therapeutic approaches.
The post holder will also support psychological practice within the team by contributing a psychological perspective to team working, treatment planning and supervising other psychological professionals.
There is a key focus on quality to enhance services. We encourage our psychologists to develop their skills and knowledge with CPD opportunities and have a track record of being able to provide ongoing training in CAT, CBT-P, DBT, EMDR, and FIP.
There will be opportunities to contribute to the development of a new model of integrated primary and community mental health services linking Community Mental Health Teams and Primary Care Networks.
