Job summary

This post covers the camel and Valency patches working with the Dementia and Older People's Mental Health teams in delivering quality input to the client group.

This role supports the Occupational Therapist in this areas to provide:

  • Specific skilled OT support work for example Cognitive Stimulation Groups, carrying out basic assessments and using various treatment skills.
  • To support and aid individuals with a diagnosis of dementia or other mental health challenges to improve quality of life and day to day functioning.
  • To work closely alongside the qualified Occupational Therapist in planning and then independently work with individuals to implement interventions, using various treatment skills and to monitor progress and evaluate the outcome under supervision from the qualified Occupational Therapist in the team.
  • To encourage individuals and carers in an active approach to finding, regaining and maintaining personal independence.
  • To support the occupational therapist in the team by carrying out specific, timed interventions on a 1:1 and CST group basis.

Main duties of the job

Take responsibility for specific tasks set

Take part in surveys and audits as required by the Organisation/team, e.g. Record Keeping Audit

Engage in supervision and appraisal system.

Take responsibility for own Continuing Professional Development e.g. engaging in regularclinical supervision, identifying learning needs, reflecting on practice

Complete mandatory training

Work in line with CFT's Strategic objectives

To follow organisational policies
