We are looking for a healthcare assistant for the Rehabilitation Service based at Fettle Open Rehabilitation Ward, Bodmin Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of an outstanding service (as rated by the CQC). You will be responsible for providing quality interventions and support to our patients; this will take the place of 1:1 and groups aimed at supporting and empowering people through their rehabilitation. This will range from supporting with personal care tasks to moving on from hospital and accessing community facilities and much more in between. You must be able to communicate in a sensitive manner. You will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation Team. The post requires the post holder to be able to work in a client centred way focusing on strengths of the individual and working within the principles of whole life.Fettle Open Rehabilitation Ward has a strong multidisciplinary team including healthcare assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, social inclusion workers, clinical psychology,and psychiatry. Our focus however is on the service user and they are at the heart of the team. We have daily ward planning meetings for service users and are working with carers/relatives to find the best way for their input to be heard.

Main duties of the job

  • To Support the delivery of care needs by carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • To contribute to the evaluation of programmes of care by reporting to the clinical supervisor.
  • As part of a team, provide high quality mental health care to the service users
  • To promote recovery.
  • To do all the above in a manner that maintains safety for all.
  • To assist in service and good practice developments
