Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative, flexible and well-motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Occupational Therapy Team based in East Cornwall. This post will be based primarily in the Liskeard Inpatient Therapy Team.

We deliver Occupational Therapy in the East Cornwall Locality to individuals with a Primary Physical Health condition in a variety of ways:

Liskeard Community Hospital - a GP-led 44 rehabilitation unit and Launceston Hospital - a GP-led 18-bedded unit, working as part of a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nursing Team and Therapy support workers.

Community Rehabilitation Team - within the person's home environment and intervention targeted at a wide variety of conditions, eg long-term, neurological, orthopaedic, falls, frailty.

Intermediate Care - a more urgent service and working closely with the Home First/Early Intervention team in the most appropriate environment for the individual.

The integrated Therapy team works closely with Specialist Therapy teams and is part of the East Cornwall Locality Integrated Care Team working with Community Nursing, Social Care, Volunteer and Mental Health teams.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard occupational therapy service To provide assessment and treatment/management of patients, some of whom may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations, carried out as an autonomous practitioner.

Supervise and delegate to occupational therapy support workers.

Working as part of the East Integrated Rehabilitation Team, to ensure a high standard of intervention and effective and efficient service to patients

To practise as a lone worker under the supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist

Within your role of Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to provide supervision for support staff and participate in Student Education.

It will be an expectation of this post that if needed the person works flexibly across all areas of the East Integrated Therapy Team. Seven-day working could become an operational requirement of this post in the future. Currently the service is commissioned Mon - Fri excluding Bank Holidays.

Regular clinical supervision will be provided and continuing professional development encouraged. We would welcome informal visits to the team.
