Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a capable, motivated and flexible colleague to join our well respected Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal Outpatient team in the Caradon Locality based at Liskeard Hospital.
Our service provides out-patient physiotherapy to the local community accepting referrals from GPs, Consultants and Allied Health Professionals, as well as Patient Self-referrals. We have a strong commitment to professional development, regular supervision and in-service training at a local and countywide level.
We have a mix of staff both administrative and clinical ranging from Band 2 to 7, including Clinical Specialists, Advanced Practice Practitioners and First Contact Practitioners.
We actively support CPD and offer robust in-house training plus opportunity for funding for appropriate external courses to support career progression.
Main duties of the job
The post holder would be responsible for carrying out assessment and treatment of patients referred from physiotherapists. This will include:
- To manage the rehabilitation of patients as delegated by the physiotherapist, working without direct supervision.
- To treat patients individually or in the MSK clinical setting without the direct supervision or presence of a therapist.
- To instruct patients and carers, providing direction and guidance on a range of physical therapy, mobility activities and activities of daily living, as part of own clinical work or as directed as necessary by the physiotherapist, within their scope of practice.
- To encourage patients and their carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.
- To use effective communication tools, verbal and non verbal, to communicate treatment programmes to patients who may have barriers to understanding or communicating.
- To attend multi-disciplinary team meetings as the therapist representative for individual patients, as delegated by the therapists
- To liaise with the therapist as necessary regarding patient care, in particular highlighting any variations to expected outcomes from treatment programmes delivered.
- To contribute to development of patient care by attending relevant team, departmental or other appropriate meetings.
