Job summary

This is Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave in our Band 6 rotation scheme.

Are you an experienced physiotherapist looking for an exciting opportunity to come to West Cornwall, where you can be part of our dynamic and developing integrated community teams?

This is a maternity leave cover position so would be an ideal opportunity for a physiotherapist who would like to gain some experience in the community on a Fixed Term contract.

The successful applicant will join the Band 6 rotations starting on the Stroke Unit at Lanyon and then rotating to either Helston, Penwith, CRCH, Homefirst or the Respiratory team in the West. The new placements will be decided in early Autumn by the whole Band 6 rotational team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be working with patients with a wide range of conditions including neurological, orthopaedic, respiratory, amputees, medical, palliative and long term conditions.

You will be expected to carry out specialist assessment of patients as an autonomous practitioner including those with highly complex presentations, and to use advanced clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence based practice to determine appropriate diagnosis and care plan utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options.

This is an ideal opportunity for a physiotherapist keen to develop his/her rehabilitation skills in the community and experience working as part of a dynamic, progressive integrated multiagency, multidisciplinary team.

We will offer a supportive working environment in which to develop your clinical and interpersonal skills, a structured in-service training programme; appraisal and supervision system. You will be encouraged to supervise support workers and more junior staff, and be involved in the clinical education of students.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
