Job summary
The post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced children's learning disability, family nurse, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist to join an established team offering assessment and parenting intervention service to parents who experience a learning disability. This is varied work and the role provides opportunities to work across learning disability, children's, mental health services and voluntary organisations.
The service uses a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of parents and families referred to the service. As part of the role training and supervision in Video Interaction Guidance will be available as this is a core intervention offered by the service. The post holder will be involved in providing detailed assessments of parents using a range of assessment methods in order to understand parents' needs and plan interventions to improve outcomes for children. There will be opportunities to provide supervision and consultation to other professionals and agencies together with delivering multi-agency training, research and service development.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to our Early Intervention Project which will mean completing initial assessments with expectant mothers and parents with young babies. An interest and/or experience of using attachment informed intervention and assessments and infant mental health would therefore be really useful.
