Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced Physiotherapist to join the North Inpatient/Community Rehabilitation team.

We are looking for a flexible, reliable person who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with leadership qualities.

This post will cover both inpatient and community rehabilitation patients with a complex and varied caseload, covering a wide variety of conditions including, orthopaedics, MS, MND, Parkinson's, amputees, falls and frailty. Every visit and treatment plan is different bringing variety and challenge to each working day. The community area covers from Bude to Bodmin over to Launceston in the East.

The position is a full-time post based at Stratton Hospital covering our small 17 bed community hospital in addition to covering community rehab team referrals. There is an expectation that it will be approx. a 50:50 split between inpatient and community work.

Alternately, there is the option to offer two part-time posts of 18.75 hrs each. One would be based at Stratton, predominately inpatients with some in-reach/outreach around the Bude area. The other would be predominately community with base to be agreed.

The post holder will work closely with other members of the Physiotherapy team, Occupational Therapy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the post is:

  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service, performing advanced assessments of patients including those with highly complex presentations, and from this formulating a diagnosis and treatment
  • To provide leadership for support staff and junior staff through supervision, training and
  • To participate in the planning and development of Physiotherapy Services within each
  • Model and deliver excellent evidence based clinical care, working as an autonomous physiotherapist

To in reach into community hospital to facilitate early discharge into the community and to continue rehabilitation in the community setting.
