Multi-Agency Rapid Response Service (MARRS) Practitioner

Information:

Job summary

Cornwall Council families together and Cornwall Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for children and young people is changing - and for the better. We have developed a multiagency rapid response service (MARRS) that will deliver urgent care across services for children and young people who experience mental health and social care crisis across Cornwall. We aim to build an integrated pathway that will offer support and treatment for families in a joined-up way.

As part of this process, we have been working with families and staff to develop a new service that puts the young person and their family at the center of what we do. We will provide a seamless, integrated, and holistic approach to crisis care, supporting families to bring about positive change that will benefit all those involved.

You will be part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, who are focused on ensuring children and young people, and their families, get the right help at the right time. Your expertise is essential in the new model of care to ensure adaptive mentalization based integrative treatment. You will be reaching out to those hard to engage young people and their families, offering a family focused approach that keeps the young person at the center of the care, working to prevent admission and supporting young people and their families on their journey of recovery.

Main duties of the job

We work intensively with young people with acute mental health difficulties who are in crisis to prevent the need for inpatient admission where possible. As part of the Acute Care Pathway we work closely with the Southwest Collaborative, our local CAMHS Inpatient Unit (Sowenna), Community CAMHS and in partnership with our children's Social Care colleagues.

The team offers short term intensive interventions to young people with a significant mental illness or who are emotionally dysregulated and displaying high risk behaviour relating to their mental health. The team also offers home treatment as an alternative to hospital admission - this can involve targeted, short term intervention.

The team currently offer urgent assessments in hospital, or in the community, and short-term intervention. We are proud to now offer intensive support at home, with those the young person care about around them, actively working with our partners to prevent children and young people being admitted into hospital. We operate a shift-based rota that covers 24 hours a day, 7 days per week to ensure the service is accessible, flexible, and able to respond in a timely manner.

The team will operate county wide and will be integrated with CAMHS, the wider child and family health services as well as Cornwall Council's social work service for children and families.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Just over 532,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
