Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative, flexible and well motivated Occupational Therapist to join the North Cornwall Integrated Therapy team based primarily within the Community Rehabilitation Team at Carew House, Bodmin.

We deliver Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in the North Cornwall locality to individuals with a primary physical health condition in a variety of ways:

  • Community Rehabilitation Team - within the patients' home environment and with interventions targeted at a wide variety of conditions, e.g. - long term conditions, neurological, orthopaedic, falls, frailty & palliative.
  • Bodmin & Stratton Community Hospitals - At Bodmin there is the 24 bed CATU - (Clinical Assessment & Treatment Unit) and an additional 12 bedded Rehabilitation ward. At Stratton Hospital there are 17 bed Rehabilitation beds.
  • Homefirst / D2A & Urgent Care response teams, who provide a more urgent response to aiming to prevent admission / facilitate discharge.

The Integrated Therapy team is part of the wider Adult Community Services, within CFT, which encompasses a number of Specialist teams and District Nursing teams.

This is a part time post, working 22.5 hrs pro rota, with the exact configuration of these hours to be agreed on appointment but will potentially include Fridays.

It will be an expectation of this post that, on occasions, the person works flexibly across the other clinical teams noted.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with a wide variety of conditions primarily within the community setting
  • As the one of the lead Occupational Therapists in the North Community Rehab Team, the post holder will be required to hold and manage a complex clinical caseload and be lead student practice educator for the team
  • In the Community Rehabilitation Team working with team members to manage the waiting list with triage, prioritisation and liaison with other services. Managing your own caseload as well as supervision of junior staff members
  • To have an active part in North Cornwall Local Point of Access (LPOA) in the triaging and re-direction of community referrals.
  • The post holder will support the Therapy Team Lead in delivering therapy services and support and lead the team in their absence if required. To contribute to the development of the Therapy Service in North Cornwall .
