Job summary

Cornwall Foundation Trust - CAMHS Intensive Support Team are undergoing exciting development and changes due to significant investment to support crisis mental health services for young people 24 hours a day across Cornwall.

We are therefore looking for individuals to expand our existing dynamic team that are good under pressure; place high worth in team based working but can also work autonomously; who have an unrelenting passion and dedication for working with young people and their families.

The CAMHS Intensive Support Team East are based at Bodmin Hospital, and work from the first floor of Sowenna. We also have another base in Helston for our West team.

Work is on a shift basis over 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

It is an exciting time to be joining Cornwall CAMHS, with it's own purpose built inpatient unit - Sowenna. Cornwall is leading the way on a ground-breaking Clinical Associate Psychology (CAP) service. There has also been major investment in developing care pathways for CAMHS as well as the CAMHS Intensive and Liaison service.

Additional support for the team is provided by the On Call Managers, the CAMHS consultants and the wider CAMHS team.

Cornwall is a beautiful and fun place to live, with opportunities to enjoy activities on the sea, rivers, beaches and moors. Summers are busy and full of entertainment and winters allow you to have to have peace, quiet and whole beaches to yourself.

Main duties of the job

We work intensively with young people with acute mental health difficulties and are in crisis to prevent the need for inpatient admission where possible. We work closely with our new CAMHS inpatient unit and community CAMHS teams.

The team also offers short term intensive interventions to young people with a significant mental illness/disorder or are emotionally dysregulated and displaying high risk behaviour relating to their mental health offering home treatment as an alternative to hospital admission.

More details regarding your duties as a Senior Practitioner can be found in the job description attached to this advert.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Just over 532,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
