Job summary
Would you be excited rather than daunted by taking a leading role in developing mental health services for Children and Young People in West Cornwall.
Tasked to provide clinical psychology leadership within the West CAMHS team in CFT, guiding and developing psychology's contribution as part of a developing multidisciplinary Team for children. The post holder will contribute to the development of effective psychological care of designated multi-disciplinary teams.
Take a key role in leading, training, supervising and supporting a cohort of Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs). To take a role on behalf of CFT with the One Vision agenda specifically that focusing on developing an integrated model of service for children with experiences of trauma,neurodevelopmental difficulties and whose difficulties with MH have become a barrier to education.
To represent Clinical Psychology and the psychological professions in meetings with the wider Community Mental Health services network, the rest of the Trust's services and with other stakeholders.
To be responsible for a caseload of highly complex service users providing a highly specialist systemic clinical psychology service, including assessment, consultation and intervention. A key component of the post will be to provide consultation, support and where appropriate clinical & managerial supervision to other clinical psychologists (including trainees and assistant psychologists), psychological therapists and wider CAMHS staff.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join our growing psychology team within Cornwall CAMHS and to supervise a group of Clinical Associate Psychologists across the West and develop and deliver specialist Clinical Psychology Services to children. The successful applicants' time would be shared between supervision, leadership and direct clinical work.

The CAMHS teams offer a range of services according to the THRIVE model (Tavistock) and specialist care pathways. The post involves offering assessment and intervention for our specialist 'getting help' and 'getting more help' pathways as well as consultation and support into our newly developed Early Help Network consultation meetings and risk support pathways. The post therefore offers a good balance between clinical work, supervision, consultation, leadership and service development. We are keen to support psychologists develop areas of specialist practice to support our most complex young people. Training and supervision in a range of interventions to deliver and support our NICE informed care pathwaysis supported and encouraged.
