Job summary

Successful candidates will be invited to an Assessment Day on Friday 19th August 2022 held at Carew House in Bodmin. Please note this will be either a morning or afternoon session to be confirmed.

We are looking for two dynamic and passionate band 5 nurses to work within our team to provide high quality patient care. Perran ward is a fast paced environment where the staff team work in a compassionate and forward thinking manner to support our adult patients whilst they are in hospital.

Perran ward is a15 bedded acute admission ward. We care for anyone with mental health difficulties who is requiring inpatient care. We strive for our ward to be innovative, creative and recovery focused. We are inspired by some of the best practice and emerging evidence base from Cornwall and around the country and are not afraid to trial new and original thinking for the benefit of our service users. We are looking for caring and creative individuals that are motivated by the opportunities and challenges and work with us in our vision of developing what we hope will be a gold standard unit.

It is very important to us that we create a ward that is therapeutic at its very core and takes into account holistic needs of our patients. It is our aim that we take a whole staff team approach to understanding, engaging and supporting service users.

Main duties of the job

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Essential

  • Professional Qualification and registration - NMC/RMN
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and ability to complete reflective practice

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people with complex and challenging needs
  • To act as an assessor for learners. Having the mentoring qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification and attending mentorship updates as required.

Personal Qualities

  • Able to engage individuals with complex needs and/or their carers in the admission process
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication
  • Up to date clinical skills in providing mental health care to patients in hospital
