Assistant Psychologist

Job summary

The post offers an exciting opportunity for an assistant Clinical Psychologist to join an established team offering assessment and intervention services to parents who experience a learning disability. This is varied work and the role provides opportunities to work across Learning disability, children's, and mental health services. The post holder will work under the close supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists and gain experience of Child Safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.

Main duties of the job

Under supervision the post will be involved providing detailed assessments of parents using a range of assessment methods in order to understand parents' needs and plan interventions to improve outcomes for children. We use a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of parents and families referred to our service, and there will be opportunities to support parenting interventions under supervision.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to our Early Intervention Project which will mean completing initial assessments with expectant mothers and parents with young babies. The post will also involve developing and producing Easy Read parenting materials and other visual resources to support parents and professionals supporting parents with a learning disability. The post holder will be provided with supervision and training in Video Interaction Guidance and would be expected to deliver this exciting intervention under supervision

There are also opportunities for audit, research and service evaluation and the post holder will be involved in the development of clinical audit and/or research projects.

The team have significant success at enabling AP's progress their career and we hope to support career development into Clinical Associate Psychologist training in the future. You will join a strong team of Psychologists in Children's Services including other assistant psychologists and a clinical associate psychologist.
