Job summary

We are delighted to advertise a permanent Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist role within the Cornwall Community Team. This post would be suitable for a Newly Qualified Therapist. We are happy to receive applications from final year students due to graduate in 2022.

The role is based in the West of Cornwall and applications will be considered for interested parties from 3 days up to 5 days (22.5 to 37.5 hours) covering Helston and Penzance areas.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will hold a mixed communication and dysphagia caseload. Additional responsibilities will include supporting junior members of staff and collaborating with other members of the team on service development projects.

You will be working within a well-supported team of therapists and assistants where there is a commitment to clinical supervision and CPD.

Ability to undertake community visits essential.

Essential

  • Current professional registration -HCPC
  • Professional qualification, SLT qualification at degree level or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification undertaken in English language or IELTS qualification

Desirable

  • Dysphagia qualification or equivalent certified practice
  • Ongoing CPD ie. short courses, reflective practice, self- directed study related to clinical work.
  • Member of RCSLT

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Experience of working with and implementing AAC therapies at basic level
  • Work with adult patients presenting with a variety of disorders during training or post qualification
  • Experience of developing and implementing a management plan during training or since qualifying
  • Ability to work competently with clients with different disorders, demonstrating the ability to translate theory into practice

  • Emerging counselling skills
