Main duties of the job

The Vascular Surgery clinical service is provided by a group of vascular surgeons who provide a 24-hour consultant led emergency service for the South-West Thames Vascular Network. The managed Network encompasses the following Hospitals: St George's, Kingston, St Helier, Epsom, Croydon, Queen Mary's Hospital (Roehampton), Ashford and St Peter's and East Surrey.

SGVI has an international reputation for the treatment of complex aortic disease and innovative endovascular therapy for both thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms. There is an extensive endovascular program, which is one of the largest in the UK and involves fenestrated and branch endovascular technology. The Institute also has a well-established carotid practice with support from a multi-disciplinary team of neurologists and stroke physicians.

The treatment of lower limb peripheral vascular disease is assuming a greater focus within the Institute, with the development of an endovascular practice using the newest technologies. Endovascular treatment of patients with lower limb peripheral vascular disease is undertaken by both vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists with a vascular interest.
