Clinical Teacher - Child Nursing

Job summary

  • The post holder will positively influence and improve the quality of the learning environment for pre-registration nursing students by providing support, supervision and educational opportunities within the practice setting.
  • The post holder will be expected to work clinically with students primarily in the paediatric practice setting to provide support, to role model good practice and to contribute to the assessment of students.
  • They will deliver relevant clinically focused teaching as part of a team within the all practice settings to enhance local learning opportunities

Main duties of the job

  • Main duties - Clinical Practice, Quality & Recruitment.
  • Act as a role model and demonstrate expertise in delivering safe, effective and compassionate evidence-based practice.
  • Work clinically with pre-registration students to support their delivery of safe, effective and compassionate evidence-based practice.
  • Identify and develop new and innovative learning opportunities for pre-registration students in practice settings.
  • Ensure that patient care standards and patient experience in the practice area are exemplary; that any poor practice is identified and action plans implemented in collaboration with the practice team.
  • Work collaboratively with theClinical Placements and Undergraduate Education Manager to support and manage concerns raised by students in relation to the practice area.
  • Ensure that the correct pathways and processes are followed in relation to student issues, incidents and absence.
  • Contribute to educational audits of the practice setting.
  • Participate in recruitment events and activities for employment of newly qualified nurses.
  • Support student nurses in their final year to transition to the role of staff nurse.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse to join the Nursing Education and Development team at St George's as the Clinical Placements Facilitator (Paediatrics) to provide maternity leave cover.
