Matron for Maternal Medicine Band 8a - Fixed term 1 year
We are looking for an experienced midwife to lead in the delivery of the dynamic maternal Medicines service. If you have a passion for promoting excellence in complex care, we want to hear from you. The post holder will be expected to have significant input into the implementation of national and local healthcare policy and into developing innovative ways of delivering the service. This will include developing collaborative relationships with other local units both in and outside the Trust.
As Matron you will be key to the ongoing development of a significantly well-established maternal medicine services here at St. George's. You will practice clinically at least 50% of the time according to the service needs and 50% related to leading and supporting the maternal medicine midwifery team. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including clinical nurse specialists, obstetricians, obstetric physicians, cardiologists, neurologists and rheumatologists.
Main duties of the job
As Matron you will work collaboratively with our clinicians, managers and service users to ensure there is a robust process in place to manage this complex service and improve patient safety. The postholder will be an experienced leader, educator, and clinical practitioner in maternity care for women with high-risk pregnancies, complicated by complex medical disorders. They will manage the team of midwives and work closely with the Consultant Obstetricians in the delivery of care. The post holder will work closely with the Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing, Deputy Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing and Senior leadership team to sustain progress on improvements following our CQC report.
