Pathway coordinator and Medical Secretary

Job summary

To provide secretarial and administrative support to the department of Neuroradiology, Neuroradiology Consultants and junior doctors. To assist in the organisation of the Consultants' workload. Arrange out patient appointments and admissions, liaising with other departments and communicating with patients regarding these arrangements

Main duties of the job

  • Provide full secretarial support to Consultant Neuroradiologists for both NHS and private patients, managing their diary, word processing, and audio typing.
  • Assist with research, lecturing, and clinical duties. Act autonomously in day-to-day secretarial tasks for the Neuroradiology department.
  • Prioritise and manage workload effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records, including logging referrals and updating patient details and medical records.
  • Promptly Handle correspondence, calls, and emails from patients, relatives, staff, and external organisations with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Co-ordinate outpatient imaging appointments, admissions, and outpatient clinics and imaging clinics, ensuring proper documentation and patient records are available.
  • Offer patients information on procedures in a supportive manner and ensure safety questionnaires are completed.
  • Ensure bookings meet targets and manage waiting lists for outpatient clinics and admissions.
  • Perform breach list validation when needed.
  • Implement relevant policies and contribute suggestions for office improvements.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Provide cover for absent team members when necessary.
  • Understand and act within the legal framework regarding health records and relevant legislation.
  • Identify personal development needs and pursue education and training as needed.
