Job summary
Band 6/7 Role Depending on Experience - (Support will be provided from B6 to B7 once competencies achieved)
To work as a member of the multidisciplinary diabetes team at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, working alongside the diabetes dietetic team at St George's Hospital. To be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to diabetic outpatients; following evidence based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research related to diabetes in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service.
Main duties of the job
This is a face-to face outpatient role providing nutritional management and specialist diabetes education to adults with Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes. You should have advanced knowledge and experience of diabetes dietetics.
It involves working with diabetes technology including CGM devices, insulin pumps and hybrid-closed loop systems.
Education is provided to patients in a one-to-one and group setting.
The postholder works closely within the multi-disciplinary team but also requires autonomous working and the ability to problem solve independently.
This is a part-time post of 22.5hours per week and flexible working hours may be agreed.

The dietetic department at St George's consists of over 60 dietitians, who provide inpatient, outpatient and community services to a variety of specialities including oncology, renal, neurology, haematology, cardiology, major trauma, gastro, diabetes, infectious diseases and paediatrics.
