About us
St. George's Hospital is a large multi-speciality facility based in South West London, offering a wide range of adult, paediatric and neonatal services. It is co-located with a medical school - St. George's, University of London.
Children managed at SGH are either local or regional tertiary patients. Our Emergency Department is seeing steadily increasing attendances, and our inpatient emergency admissions are also increasing. Outpatient referrals have also steadily increased for local children, reflecting the growing young population in SW Thames.
Tertiary children's services are offered by Consultants based at SGH in neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, paediatric surgery and PICU. St George's University Hospital is one of the main regional trauma and neurosurgical services for London and has helipad access for HEMS.
The department has its own outpatient's area (The Dragon Centre), Child Development Centre, PICU and Paediatric Step-down Unit, with 51 inpatient beds. There are over 50 Consultants and a fully staffed EWTD compliant middle grade and ST rota, composed of GRID Trainees, regional trainees, fellows and F1 doctors.
