Structural Heart Disease Nurse Specialist

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a small friendly team providing support to the Lead Nurse Practitioner for structural heart disease. Within the team you will often work autonomously and will have opportunities to develop your skills in the structural heart service. You will be the main point of contact and support for this group of complex patients from initial referral to post discharge follow-up.

Main duties of the job

To work independently and as part of a multi disciplinary team for patients with structural heart disease. This will include patients requiring TAVI, TEER and PFO closure.

Manage the caseload of patients and communicate effectively with members of the team, patients and relatives.

Run nurse-led clinics undertaking physical assessment of patients, requesting relevant investigations and making clinical decisions as an autonomous practitioner.

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse with 5 years experience in practice
  • Recognised post graduate cardiac course
  • 2 or more years as AFC band 6/7
  • Leadership and good communication skills

Desirable

  • Working towards clinical decision making/physical assessment, Masters, independent prescribing.

Skills/knowledge/ability

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Commitment to team working.
  • Willing to train and be trained.
