Trainee Echocardiographer (18 months fixed-term post)

Job summary

Here at St George's Hospital we have an exciting opportunity for 1x an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP) developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with and supported by the Departmental Training Officer, the Trainee Echocardiographer will be responsible for their own progression through the ETP training programme. Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography.

Essential

  • Understands the role of an Echocardiographer in healthcare and disease and its application in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to analyse and assess scientific, technical, and medical literature.

Desirable

  • Basic cardiac physiology knowledge with experience of non-invasive and invasive cardiology procedures

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of common computing packages for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages and databases.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Acquiring & imparting complex knowledge in challenging environments
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload and demonstrate initiative

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 2:1 in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject
  • Or A 2:2 undergraduate honours degree plus relevant cardiology experience and approval from the relevant
  • Or Alternative/Vocational qualification plus sufficient and relevant experience and appropriate underpinning knowledge and skills in cardiology
