Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Vascular Surgery Outpatient Pathway Coordinator to work in Vascular Surgery Unit for an initial 6 month, with the potential to make a substantive offer based on performance. The post will provide an extensive opportunity to build and develop skills working for our busy Vascular Surgery team. This is a newly created post to support expansion within the service.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for outpatient pathways and other admin duties required by and assigned by Consultant Vascular Surgeons and the Vascular Surgery Unit

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • oGood general education including GSCE in Maths or English and A levels (or equivalent)
  • oRSA III (or equivalent experience)
  • oTyping speed of 60 WPM minimum
  • oExtensive knowledge of RTT pathways

Desirable

  • oAMSPAR Diploma (or equivalent business and admin NVQ)
  • oCustomer Care course (or equivalent experience)

Experience

Essential

  • o Relevant patient pathway coordinator / secretarial experience of which at least 1 years should have been spent as a medical secretary.
  • oExperience of working within a hospital.
  • oExperience in establishing / maintaining robust office systems.
  • oAudio typing
  • oExperience of working with patients with complex needs.
  • oExtensive experience with validation on Cerner Millennium/ iClip

Desirable

  • oExperience of working with different professional groups

Skills

  • oAbility to work unsupervised
  • oComputer / word processing skills including use of email (ability to create directories, documents, mail merge, etc)
  • oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • oExcellent organisational skills
  • oAbility to generate own routine correspondence.
  • oAbility to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.
  • oWillingness and ability to learn new IT skills and technology.
  • oAbility to adapt to a changing environment.
