Job summary
The M&M Team have been in place for three years and are now well-established across St George's Hospital. The team have recently started working within the new corporate medicine structure across gesh and will also be supporting and facilitating the M&M service at Epsom and St Helier Hospital.
We are looking for a new team member to continue providing effective and efficient support to clinical specialties across the group, enabling staff to reflect and learn from their own and other's practice. This is an excellent opportunity to be at the beginning stages of the service's development and expansion to multi site working. With this will bring the need for a creative problem solver, independent thinker and a team member who will be proactive and collaborative. This role will be well suited to someone motivated by improving patient safety and strengthening assurance of the quality of clinical services we deliver.
The post holder will be expected to maintain the level of service currently provided to clinical teams, whilst actively seeking ways to further develop the support offered. This will include embedding standardised processes, auditing implementation and evaluating effectiveness. The team is focussed on ensuring that the learning generated by M&M review is systematically captured and shared, with actions designed and implemented to bring about positive change within services and across boundaries.
Main duties of the job
The M&M coordinator will be ensuring that there is group wide support for all specialties teams and that any issues or concerns are escalated appropriately to the Senior Learning from Mortality Manager. The post holder will manage their own portfolio of M&M meetings, helping to facilitate the meetings if needed, produce the expected outcomes and to capture any learning that has been identified and then disseminate according to the terms of reference.
The post-holder will fulfil a vital role in the ongoing implementation and modification of the M&M processes. Furthermore, they will be a part ofthe identification, capture, thematic analysis and dissemination of learning and monitoring of actions.
The post holder will work alongside the clinical staff in the all three acute hospital sites and will be required to travel between the sites if required.
The post holder will work with the Senior Learning from Mortality Manager and governance leads for each speciality group to further develop the function across the Trust.
