Job summary

The role involves acting as deputy section leader and the nominated RPA and MPE to a number of RPC's external clients. The postholder will work with a high degree of autonomy to ensure that RPC's service specification is delivered to its clients.

They will perform RPA/MPE audits to assess compliance with the regulatory framework and play an important role in the development of RPC's scientific services. They will also play a role in the delivery of RPC's training commitments to healthcare professionals (via scheduled and ad hoc training courses).

Main duties of the job

  • Audit services with regard to their compliance with legislation relating to radiation and laser safety and advise on corrective actions arising.
  • To act as deputy section leader.
  • To support the Section leader in delivering RPC's service commitments.
  • To act as the nominated RPA and MPE to sites that are the responsibility of the post holder.
  • Responsible for the investigation of radiation incidents and provision of radiation incident reports to clients. To ensure the accuracy of incident reports provided by other colleagues.
  • To contribute to the development of RPC's scientific and technical services.
  • To contribute to the department's scientific research and development activities.
  • Provide advice on legislation and guidance in radiation protection to clients.
