Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated lead podiatrist to provide a high quality & responsive specialist Podiatry service to the diabetic & high risk population served by St Georges NHS Foundation Trust. You will need to be able to lead a team as they provide treatment/advice at a variety of sites within St Georges Hospital NHS Foundation Trust including wards, A&E, Acute Medical Unit, outpatient departments & primarily the diabetes foot unit. Working as part of a MDT and act as a source of advice to patients, doctors, consultants, medical students, nurses, carers, GP's & other Health Care Professional's.

The Diabetic Foot team provides specialist diagnostic assessment & treatment, including wound care management of the diabetic and high risk foot on for the population served by St Georges NHS Foundation Trust (Trust) and any SLA's as directed.

The Diabetic Foot MDT currently consists of: x1 band 3 HCA, x2 band 6 podiatrists, x1 band 7 Inpatient podiatrist, x1 band 7 outpatient podiatrist, diabetes consultant, vascular consultant, microbiology consultant, orthopaedic consultant, Interventional radiologist, Orthotist, MSK radiologist, pharmacist, psychologist, specialist registrars and nurses.

Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover the current postholder's maternity leave

Main duties of the job

To work as an integral lead of the Podiatry team within the Thomas Addison Unit and the multi-disciplinary diabetic team to deliver high quality Podiatric care to patients with a high-risk need.

To commit to the philosophy of care with emphasis on patient empowerment & independence.
