Job summary

In the role of Strategic HRBP, the postholder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Group delivers on its integration objectives for 2024/25, ensuring that Corporate Services are successfully integrated across our Hospital Group in consideration of business needs, HR bestpractice and legislation. The Strategic HRBP will oversee and manage colleagues within the HR Group Corporateservices integration team, providing senior leadership and expertise to the team and carryresponsibility and accountability for the HR service being provided to the Corporate Services Integration Programme.The Strategic HRBP will provide specialist, complex, professional advice in relation to organisational re-design, organisational change and all associated management of change processes, including TUPE transfer.

Main duties of the job

The Strategic HR Business Partner (Group Corporate Services Integration) is a senior, high profile, autonomous practitioner and an integral part of the HR Group Corporate Services Integration team. The post holder will lead on providing HR expertise to senior leadership teams as they design their integrated corporate functions (e.g. Finance, IT, Estates and Facilities), which will focus on bringing teams together across the two Trusts and forming Group Corporate services for St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group (gesh). The post holder will be expected to support in all aspects pertaining to organisational design and development, management of change, TUPE transfer and Organisational Development (post implementation).

The post holder is expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with all key stakeholders based on the Trust's values, and work effectively with colleagues to ensure the successful achievement of the Group Corporate Services Integration Programme (over the forthcoming 12 months).

St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Health Group (GESH) was formed in February 2022 and has an extensive and diverse estate portfolio, delivering a full range of services from our hospital sites and community settings. After more than a year of working together informally, the St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals and Health Group (gesh)wants to take the next major step in the Group's formation by integrating its corporate service departments. This will see Corporate Affairs, Communications, People, Finance, Deputy CEO department, Corporate Nursing, and Corporate Medical teams, plus parts of Estates & Facilitiesand IT departments, join together as Group teams. The Group integration work is a unique chance to share expertise across the group and create more effective, innovative, and resilient Strategic HRBP services and ensure we offer the very best care consistently across gesh. Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Autonomously provide senior HR expertise and support to Executive Directors and Senior Leaders to successfully facilitate their strategic planning, design, and delivery of change to move to integrated models of delivery within their services.2. Lead on all discussions with relevant Executive Directors, Senior Leaders and keystakeholders to generate ideas, document requirements and assess their needs to implement change.3. Use appropriate change management approaches to develop change management strategies to support the implementation of proposed changes.4. Analyse all proposals for change in consideration of the budgetary impact and arising costs, particularly in consideration of the associated objective to deliver on agreed CIP plans.5. Proactively promote and drive change within the organisation in respect of Group Corporate Services, communicating with directly affected staff as appropriate, to discuss change issues and maintain morale and support for change by encouraging and motivating them to embrace change and realise the benefits.6. In discussion and agreement with the Executive leads, draft associated Consultation papers, ensuring they effectively communicate complex proposals and plans, in a meaningful way to a wide audience.7. Prepare comprehensive impact analyses of all proposed changes, evaluating the impact of changes and providing solutions/options in consideration of these.8. To assess and manage problems and risks to the delivery of the programme and to take action/escalate as appropriate.9. Oversee communication plans in consultation with senior leads and relevant stakeholders, communicating plans and updates to all relevant parties.10. Communicate with Senior leads and programme colleagues to keep them up to date with progress, and any issues/developments in arising activity. Provide appropriate briefings to enable them to make informed decisions about the approach and direction of the programme.11. Monitor the delivery of the overall Workforce component of the programme, working with the Head of HR Projects to provide regular updates on the project status to the relevant governance committees, including regular updates to the Executive Senior Responsible Officer for the programme.12. Attend and Chair meetings as appropriate with key stakeholders as part of programme activity, including meetings with staff side colleagues.13. Lead and oversee all associated change management activity within nominated service areas, including responsibility for all associated organisational change documentation and communications (including attendance at launch meetings, and 121 Consultation meetings).14. Advise on all aspects pertaining to Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment rights (TUPE), ensuring TUPE transfer is successfully managed to completion.15. Contribute and act as a senior leader in respect of the implementation phasing of all organisational change activity within nominated service areas.16. Line manage colleagues within the HR Group Corporate Services integration team, setting objectives and monitoring performance to ensure achievement of the programmes objectives.17. Work closely with other key teams who are required to support the integration of corporate services, including IT, Comms and Finance.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Current membership of the CIPD - MCIPD

Desirable

  • Masters's Degree in HR Management or related subject
  • FCIPD

Experience/Knowledge

  • Proven track record of operational and strategic HR achievements as a senior level, working across a broad remit including OD
  • Experience of facilitating multi-professional groups and team working
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the HR BP role and the key success criteria
  • Demonstrate commitment to, and enthusiasm for facilitating change, cultural and behavioural change, service improvement, and team / Individual development
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and good employment practice
  • Knowledge of the current HR Agenda in the NHS and how this supports service provision and performance.

  • Proven NHS/public sector experience and knowledge
  • Experience of advising on Maintaining High Professional Standards cases for Medical and Dental Staff
