Job summary

Rotational role within Major Trauma within Orthopaedics and Neurology/ Neurosurgery and Research.The position on Trauma and Orthopaedics covers admissions under Major Trauma, Trauma Elective Orthopaedics, Day Surgery, Plastics and short-stay Surgery. The specialist therapist role provides essential daily input as part of our service as a Major Trauma Centre.Responsible for complex clinical caseload of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord injury across the whole Trust, liaising with external agencies, facilitating onward referrals and flow through the pathway and reducing length of stay.Responsible for essential TARN data collection and monitoring Trust-wide compliance with completion of Rehabilitation Prescriptions (tariff associated per patient. Level one patient £1500 per rehab prescription. Level two patient £3000 per rehab prescription).Forms part of a successful rotation, inclusive of Neurosurgery, Respiratory, Research, Neuro rehabilitation - without cover for the post it may negatively affect other teams at the point of rotation.Leadership:Supporting orthopaedic and neurotrauma physiotherapy service on the acute wards including 7 day working.Supervision of the B5 Physios in Trauma and Orthopaedics (including supporting with any students)Split clinical responsibilities with Trauma and Orthopaedics and clinical research led by Orthopaedics and funded by the Research Faculty.

Experience

  • Minimum 18 months to 2 years post registration experience
  • NHS experience
  • Broad range of experience at junior level including ICU, medical/surgery, senior health, musculoskeletal orthopaedics / outpatients and neurosciences

  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Ability to form a sound prognosis and advice other members of the MDT
