Job summary
- The safe administration of systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) and supportive care in an outpatient setting.
- To act as a professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the nursing team on allocated shifts.
- To support the Senior and Junior sisters as required and to deputise for them if needed.
- To work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to join the team on the Trevor Howell Oncology Day Unit, on a full time post (37.5 hours/week).
- The successful applicants will join a highly skilled specialist team that offer treatments including SACT and supportive therapies to patients with solid tumours as well as malignant haematological conditions.
- The candidate will ideally possess a recognised chemotherapy course and will need to have experience in administering SACT, in addition to having excellent venepuncture and cannulation skills, organisational, leadership, time management and communication skills.
- The post holder will be expected to provide and maintain high standards of care to our patients, meeting trust values, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team and demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to this group of patients.
