Job summary

We are looking for two medical secretaries to join our team. A full time post and a post which will be three days a week Wednesday to Friday. (set days - non negotiable)

The medical secretary role is key to delivering an effective service to our patients. This role provides efficient and high quality secretarial and administrative support to consultants and their teams, working in close co-operation with staff and other health professionals. In the Plastics department the post holder may cross cover their colleagues in coordinating admissions to ensure the appropriate patient is booked onto the correct theatre list within Trust and national access targets. The medical secretary is an active and supportive member of the department's administrative team

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide administrative support to the clinical team. This involves managing clinics letters and subsequent correspondence, providing excellent customer service to patients and families, and undertaking any needs of the service.

As well as working closely with the Consultants, Associate Specialists, Registrars and Clinical Nurse Specialists within the Trust, you may also be asked to liaise with external agencies. You must be able to work calmly under pressure and have a proven track record in using your own initiative and prioritizing your workload in order to meet tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • Higher level education, qualification in business administration or and admin NVQ
  • Typing 60 WPM

  • Experience in establishing/maintaining robust admin systems
